Premier League: Gabriel Jesus Nets Twice On Debut For Arsenal Against Leicester City
Arsenal have got their money's worth of newly-signed forward Gabriel Jesus, who scored a brace on his debut in a 4-2 win against Leicester City at Emirates Stadium.
Jesus dazzled the opponents not just by scoring twice but being prominent on the offensive and assisting in two other goals by Gabriel Martinelli and Granit Xhaka.
He also had multiple chances that could have earned him a hattrick on debut. In other instance, he could have simply drawn a penalty instead an attempt at the goal that went just wide.
Leicester fell behind by two goals in the first half courtesy of Jesus after he chipped the ball past Danny Ward for the opening goal, and minutes later, leapt for poor header clearance from Jamie Vardy following a corner and finished it off with a header for the second goal.
Xhaka scored the third to make up for William Saliba's own goal and James Maddison added another to Leicester just before Martinelli completed the scoreline for Arsenal.
Vardy could have had a goal in the game when Foxes were award penalty in the first but the decision was overruled by VAR. Likewise, Kelechi Iheanacho made a sensational impact on the team by setting up Maddison for the team's second goal.
Arsenal signed Jesus for £45m from Manchester City this summer. On his record at his previous club, he scored 95 goal throughout his spell and left the on a good note by winning with it the Premier League title. Had he scored a hattrick in today's game for Arsenal, that could have been his second hattrick in league games.
