Kamaru Usman Loses UFC Welterweight Title To Leon Edwards

It is an end of an era for Kamaru Usman who lost out in his fight against British fighter Leon Edwards in a stunning knockout for the first time in his career and that left Leon as the winner of the UFC Welterweight title.

Kamaru was up and good points wise and had multiple takedown of Edwards such that the British fighter was already having fatigue and it was like the fight was ending the Nigerian's way until late into the fifth round when the unexpected struck.

"I'm from the trenches. I'm built like this," Edwards said in ecstatically after being declared the winner. "I've been doubted  my whole life but look at me now."

He carefully watched Kamaru lose guard and swiftly struck a left-footed kick to his chin and that sent Kamaru laying still on the floor. The referee quickly called off the fight as Kamaru was motionless for few minutes from the shock he sustained from Edwards' kick.

The victory made Edwards the first British UFC Welterweight champion after Michael Bisping in 2016 and both are the only two British fighters to have made the feat in the promotion's history.

Kamaru, on the other hand, is a great fighter and didn't chicken out of the fight. He defeat came as a shock and the blow to the head from Edwards was a well timed kick that caught the Nigerian fighter well enough to make him convulse for some seconds.
