'I'm Happy ' To Move To Chelsea Says Kalidou Koulibaly
It has been a long time coming for former Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly to have moved to the Premier League where he will be playing for Chelsea.
Koulibaly had for many times been linked to not only Chelsea but also to Manchester United and Liverpool as well. Napoli had only not wanted him to leave, they have also used his transfer fee as a deterrent to keep him.
"It is true that it's been long time that the Premier League wanted me to come," said the defender in a press conference Wednesday. "I think the moment is now. I'm not a player who likes fighting with my club to leave."
Chelsea signed the Senegalese to a £34million contract this summer after stalling the centre-back for years dating back to 2015. Even him was delighted with his transfer as he said "I'm happy to join Chelsea" during the interview.
United were polling to signing the player in 2019 for a transfer fee in the excess of £80million. Amidst that interest, United opted out to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City for £80million.
He goes on say: "I think that this time was the good time to leave Napoli. I made eight years over there, had a lot of good moments with the supporters, my teammates, [and] the club."
