Wimbledon 2022: Novak Djokovic Wins For Seventh Time
At last, it was yet another Grand Slam title for Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon bringing his total to 22 and making him second only to Rafael Nadal of all-time biggest winner.
Nick Kyrgios, in the other hand, made his first ever Grand Slam appearance at Wimbledon and could only lose but to a tougher opponent, Djokovic in four-set 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6(3) before the crowds that has the British royals in attendance.
Djokovic had a slow start as Nick claimed the first set but he soon became tenacious in the second set, saving four break points and won the set in a rallied from 0-40 at 5-3.
The Serb continued to have the game control in the third which he won and only committed two unforced errors. Though the fourth set entered a tiebreak, Nick pretty much drifted as he won the championship point on the Aussie's backhand return to the net.
"I didn't win it; he lost that game with his unforced errors," said Djokovic. "I just stayed there and pushed him to the limit and I got the reward."
The former world no. 1 lifted his seventh Wimbledon title that he confessed feels like he was "obviously over the moon with joy and happiness" having to lift the trophy "once again".
