Sebastian Vettel Retires From Racing
Aston Martin F1 driver, Sebastian Vettel has announced he will be retiring from racing at the end of the season amidst effort by the team to keep him longer.
Vettel joined the British racing team from Ferrari in 2020 when talks on contract renewal broke down between the two parties. On joining the team, Aston Martin he replaced Sergio Perez, who moved on to join Ferrari in the same season.
"I love this sport," said Vettel in a clip released on his social media account. "As much as there is life on track there is my life off track, too. Being a racing driver has never been my sole identity."
The German is a four-time F1 champion and he won the titles successively between 2010 and 2013 with Red Bull which he joined in 2009 from Scuderia Toro Rosso.
Amongst all-time biggest F1 title winners, Vettel ranked in fourth behind Juan Manuel Fangio, Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton. He is third all-time biggest race winner with 53 races trailing only Michael Schumacher (91) and Lewis Hamilton (103).
