Raheem Sterling Goes To Chelsea For £50M
Raheem Sterling has left Manchester City and is now a Chelsea player after a five-year contract worth £50milloon with add-ons was completed.
City have now lost two key attacking players to their London-based rivals - Chelsea and Arsenal in less than two weeks. Barely over a week ago, Gabriel Jesus left the club to join Arsenal, and now, Sterling followed joining Chelsea.
The England international was signed to City from Liverpool for £49million in 2015 and his spell at Etihad was such a trophy-ladden one: City are the Premier League defending champions.
City's director of football Tixki Begiristain described the attacking midfielder as a "wonderful" player, who is leaving the club on a good note having won the 2021/22 season league title before leaving.
"He has played a very important part of the successes we've had in recent seasons and his dignity on and off the field has been an inspiration to many," said Tixki in a statement.
While Sterling just joined Chelsea, City had boosted their forward with the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for £51million in May.
