New Doctor Who Lead Actor Unveiled

Ncuti Gatwa has been announced as the new lead actor of the popular British drama series, Doctor Who and he will be replacing Jodie Whittaker as the new Time Lord.

Ncuti rose to fame for his lead role in Netflix's film Sex Education. He is a native of Rwanda who was born in Scotland. He will become the first actor of African descent to be the lead actor of the series.

"There aren't quite the words to describe how I'm feeling," said the 29-year-old. "A mix of deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared."

Just as Ncuti, the former lead actress Jodie was the first female to star as the time-travelling character and she did the for 10 years. The role became vacant when she announced last July she will be stepping  down from the role.

In what seemed to be utmost respect to a former lead actor of the series, Russell T. Davis, Ncuti in his statement described him as one he looks up to and he would bring his best to the film to live up to expectations.

"The future is here and it's Ncuti!" said Davis who is expected to return as show runner in the next series. "Sometumes talent walks through the door and it's so bright and bold and brilliant."
