Italian Open: Novak Djokovic Wins Title

Novak Djokovic is the champion of the Italian Open for the sixth time and his 38th ATP Masters 1000 title. He defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets 6-0 7-6(5) to make that happen.

The Serb, 34, celebrated his 1000th win of ATP tour-level matches yesterday when he defeated Ruud Casper to make it to the final. That made him the fifth player ever to make the milestone in tennis history.

Tsitsipas was easily outlasted in the first set but he was resilient in the decider and took a early break for a 1-4 lead before Djokovic rallied and the match entered a tiebreak and the world number one won.

"I could not ask for a better lead-up to Roland Garros," Djokovic said as he announced he will be participating in Paris and he is optimistic that he will finish well.
