Premier League: Vitaly Janelt Scores Twice As Brentford Humble Chelsea
Chelsea were left humbled by Brentford at Stanford Bridge after losing 4-1 to their visitors with Christian Eriksen scoring his first goal for the side.
Brentford made the unexpected victory happen in a comeback that saw Vitaly Janelt barging in a brace that helped secure the side's first victory against Chelsea in all competitions since 1939.
It took Brentford 10 minutes to take the lead after Antonio Rudiger put Blues in the lead just three minutes after their return from break.
Janelt scored the equaliser from 30-yard and Eriksen tapped home Bryan Mbuemo's square pass from close range and Janelt doubled the lead on the hour after Mbuemo set him off with a through pass.
As Blues could not make a comeback, Yoane Wissa sealed the victory for the side with three minutes left to play. It was the biggest victory for a newly promoted team in the PL against a team that came into the game in top three.
The loss was Thomas Tuchel's men's first in 14 games in all competitions; the last time Chelsea were beaten in a league game was in 1-0 loss to Manchester City in January.
