Emilia Romagna GP: Max Verstappen Takes Comfortable Win For Red Bull's first 1-2 in Six Years

Max Verstappen stood up high on the podium as he celebrated Red Bull's first 1-2 race win since 2016 with Sergio  Perez at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc should have been a podium favourite in P2 but he ran over the barrier and spun to the road side on Lap 52. That crash damaged his front wing and he dropped in position to finish sixth.

Carlos Sainz didn't last long in the race. Ferarri lost him to a collision with McLaren's Daniel Ricciardo just at the start of the race. Lando Norris kept McLaren's hope alive while Ricciardo was out and finished third for a podium position.

It was not the best race for Lewis Hamilton who finished outside of the top 10 but his teammate George Russell battled through the laps to finish fourth. Valtteri Bottas followed in fifth position.

"A weekend to forget," Hamilton said admitting missing out on the contest for the F1 championship. "There's no question about that. I will still keep working as hard as I can."

Leclerc lead the championship standings with 27 points ahead of Verstappen (59) followed by Perez in the third place with 54 points.
