Champions League: Samuel Chukwueze Leads Villareal To Thrilling Win Against Bayern Munich

Unai Emery-led Villarreal have sent Bayern Munich out of the Champions League in a 1-1 win that sealed their victory on a 2-1 aggregate and will now progress to the semi-finals of the competition. 

Villareal had gained away win advantage coming into the game on a 1-0 home win against Bayern from the first-leg tie. Thus, a draw for the Spaniards at the Allianz Arena meant Bayern are out. 

Robert Lewandowski put Bayern in the lead with a low-cut shot from the edge of the 18-yard box after the halftime break but Samuel Chukwueze scored a late equaliser for Villareal and led the side through. 

The Nigerian's goal was inspired by Dani Parejo who ceased a fast break and let a through pass to Moreno who crossed the ball over to Chukwueze for the finish from inside the box. 

Villareal were the winners of the 2021 UEFA Europa Cup against Manchester United in a shootout following a 1-1. They will now face in the semi-finals the winner between Liverpool and Benfica.
