Chelsea Owner Is Ready To Sell Club
For nineteen years, Chelsea FC have been under the ownership of Roman Abramovich. Now, he is ready to accept an offer for the sale of the club with price tag set for £3 billion.
The billionaire also promised to call in the £1.5b debt owed him by the club and would donate the net proceed from the sale to victims of the conflict in Ukraine.
In a statement released on the move, the 55-year-old mogul said he made the "difficult" decision with the club's best interest at heart. However, it "pains" him to leave the club in a manner such as this.
An American bank Raine Group is understood to be handling the sale and a potential buyer, Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, has opened up that he has been approached to buy the club.
Wyss is estimated to have a net worth of over $5.8b (£4.3b) and is the founder owner of Synthes USA in 1977, which was later sold to Johnson & Johnson for $20.3b in 2012.
