UEFA Moves Champions League Final To France
UEFA has reached a unanimous agreement to move the hosting of the Champions League final from St. Petersburg, Russia to a new venue Paris, France.
The cancellation is following the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian military forces which has received condemnations and sanctions from most countries in Europe.
In a statement released by the governing body, it expressed its gratitude to the French President and the support and commitment he has given to have the "European club football's most prestigious game moved to France" in difficult time like this.
Ukraine football association on Thursday called for the removal of Russia from all European competitions but the continent's governing body did otherwise and rescheduled all international competitions of both clubs and national teams of both countries to neutral venues.
The pressure coming on Russia did not stop at that as Manchester United are understood to be ending the sponsorship deal it has with a Russian airline, Aeroflot following the invasion of Ukraine.
