Oscars Nominations 2022: The Power of the Dog Gets Most Nods
As stakeholders in the movie industry gears up for the 94th annual ceremony of the Academy awards night organised by the Academyof Motion Picture, Arts, and Sciences, The Power of the Dog took big strides in getting most nods for award recognition.
The show was live-streamed early on Tuesday morning with Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan as the hosts. The venue was at the Dolby Theatre in Oos Angeles, California.
British actor Benedict Cumberbatch got a nod for his lead role in The Power of the Dog - the film which had a total of 12 nods as the most nominated.
Howecer, contesting for the prize with Cumberbatch are renowned actors such as Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth), Andrew Garfield (tick, tick...BOOM!), Will Smith (King Richard), and Javier Bardem (Being the Ricardos).
The Jane Campion directed film also earned a nod for best director and the best picture. Interestingly, it missed out on best actress category which includes Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter), Penelope Cruz (The Parallel Mothers), Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos) Kristen Stewart (Spencer), Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye).
