Xavi Hernandez Unveils As Barcelona New Manager
Barcelona have unveiled their former player Xavi Hernandez as the club's new head coach at the stadium. He joined the club on a contract that runs until 2024.
Celtic Vigo forced a 3-3 draw against Barcelona on Saturday and that caused them to dropped to ninth in the La Liga. For the reason of the club performing poorly, the 41-year-old publicly announced his desire to step down as the manager of the Qatari side Al Saad and return home to manage the club.
Standing next to the club president Juan Laporte in front of the fans in Nou Camp stadium, the former player said: "This is the biggest club in the world and I'm going to work hard to reach your expectations. Barcelona can't accept a draw or a defeat. We have to win all games."
Barcelona are eleven points adrift the top of the table led by Real Sociedad and they have missed out on lifting the La Liga for two seasons in a row. If they didn't buckle up, they might yet miss out this season neither is Xavi ready to make "excuse" for not delivering.
"It's a medium to long-term project but we'll need to work really hard to find the results," he added. "The expectation and the demand will be the highest. No excuses will be made or accepted."
