Venom 2 Tops $200M Mark At Box Office

As the dust is settling after a long Covid-19 pandemic, Venom: Let there Be Carnage turned out to be profiting by becoming the second film to cross the $200m benchmark at the box office in the United States.

The sequel was delayed multiple times because of the pandemic but smashed grossing record of the year for taking in $90m on opening weekend. It is also the first to make such success on debut since the pandemic. It topped Black Widow which hauled in $80m on first weekend from theatrical release - BW also added $60m to that from streaming.

It took the film led by Tom Hardy seven weeks to make the feat that was first reached by Warner/Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film made impressive $75.3m three-day and $94.6m four-day Labour Day on opening weekend.

In the worldwide market, Venom stood fourth for the year with $426m and yet behind Shang-Chi which has now rung up $430m - highest for the year The Battle of the Lake Changjin with $885m.
