Steven Gerrard Is Aston Villa's New Manager
Steven Gerrard has assumed duty as the new head coach of Aston Villa following the sacking the club's former manager last Wednesday.
The former Liverpool captain was appointed on a three-and-half year deal and it will be his first managerial role in a Premier League club. He left Scottish side Rangers to join Villa.
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everybody associated with Glasgow Rangers for giving me the opportunity to manage such an iconic football club," said Gerrard.
He will be joined at Villa with his assistant at Rangers, Gary McAllister and both reportedly will receive between £3.25m to £4m in compensation from the Scottish side they left off.
