Sao Paulo GP: Bottas Takes Pole As Hamilton Defies Disqualification To Finish Fifth
Valtteri Bottas stunned Red Bull to deliver the pole to Mercedes after Lewis Hamilton started the Sao Paulo GP qualifying from the back of the grid but stunned his rivals to finish fifth.
Hamilton was handed the disqualification for rear-wing Infringement during practice session on Friday, and yet sped past 15 cars. The last was Lando Norris on the final lap. Norris was trying to keep him at bay while chasing Red Bull's Sergio Perez but Hamilton launched a superb takeover and got the leap to fifth.
Unlike Hamilton, Verstappen dropped two places behind from the start - falling behind Bottas Perez before dropping further behind Ferrari's Carlos Sainz. The Dutch driver later overtook his teammate for the second place, but Perez lost the third place to Sainz.
All hope is not lost for Hamilton in this season's F1 title race as he will be starting in P10 despite finishing the qualifying in fifth place due the disqualification.
