Kamaru Usman Retains Welterweight Title
Kamaru Usman will be keeping his UFC welterweight title as Colby Covington failed to outclassed him in their second bout at the sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York.
This time, the Nigerian-American fighter couldn't follow his antecedent when he defeated Covington in a knockout. He fought through the rounds in the second bout to win by unanimous decisions of 48-47 48-47 49-46.
"I know there was a lot of trash talk and a lot of bad blood here," said Kamaru. "I'm sure there's still gonna be some after tonight, but this guy is a tough son of b***h."
Covington proved to be a good fighter and didn't lose out easily. He came out very strong in the fourth round and was able to land a well intended upper cut on Kamaru and added a straight left to that immediately.
Kamaru was able to find his balance still and responded adequately with a combination. 3ven at that Covington remained resilient, and once again, caught the Nigerian face with another punch and he responded soon after.
They both showed mutual respect to each other at the buzzer and Kamaru was announced the winner. The Nigerian fighter has only lost once in his career.
