Champions League: This is What Atalanta Boss Told Ronaldo After Draw Against Man. United
Having a player like Cristiano Ronaldo on the pitch could suggest the unexpected can happen even in injury time. Atalanta got to witness that against Manchester United in their 2-2 draw on Tuesday.
Ronaldo displayed an incredible skill by leading United to a comeback that cancelled out Atalanta lead twice and forced a draw. He smashed home the equalizer in the added minutes of the first half following a cutback from Bruno Fernandes - Josip Licic scored the first goal for Atalanta.
The Italian side responded with a bang from Duvan Zapata and regained the lead in the second, but Ronaldo knew what to do with the ball when Mason Greenwood lobbed the ball to him in the box. Without having a second thought, he smashed the ball to the bottom right of the post and leveled up the scores for United.
Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini was stunned at the equalizer, and he described Ronaldo as an incredible player but to him to "go to hell" for wrecking the game for his men when speaking to Sky Italia.
He said during an interview: "I spoke with Rinaldo. He's an incredible player, some even called him a problem."
Ronaldo rejoined United this summer from Juventus where he played for three season and won the Italia Serie A twice (2018-19, 2019-20).
"That's a nice problem to have," Gasperini added. "He rarely gets it off target; half the time he scores, half the time it is saved. In the end I said to him, "you know what we say in Italy, go to hell."
The goals scored now brought his tally to nine this season. United are in the lead with seven points equaling with Villarreal who are second in Group F.
