Tina Turner Sells Music Catalogue Rights To Publishing Company
Tina Turner is the newest artist to sell her music catalogues and she did for an undisclosed amount to a music publishing company called BMG..
The 81-year-old singer explained in a statement that it is necessary for her to do so for the "protection" of her craft and her "musical inheritance" just as any artist would and those works are things that are very "personal" to her.
Amongst hits that BMG now has rights to includes What's Love Get To Do With It, and Private Dancer. The deal which is understood to be the biggest in BMG history will cover management of her name, image, and likeness. However, she is also a recording artist for Warner Music.
Hartwig Masuch, chief executive of BMG, described the deal as a "honour" to be able manage the singer's works of over sixty years and being an artist that has been an inspiration for "hundreds of millions of people around the world."
