US Open: Novak Djokovic Beats Alexander Zverev, Nears Grand Slam Record
Having defeated Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals, Djokovic is on the verge of making history and that will be determined in the final against Russian ace Daniil Medvedev on Sunday.
The #1 seeded player battled through a five-setter and rallied twice to oust the German ace in 4-6 6-2 6-4 4-6 6-2 in the semi-finals.
It was like a pay back to Zverev who defeated him in the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics and denied him the chance of vying a Golden Slam in the final.
"I'm going for a four US Open, that's all I'm think about," said Djokovic. "I know people like to hear me talk about it but there's not much to talk about."
Making the final can be remarkable for the Sebian as he is not only set to win his 21st Grand Slam but will become the first to win all four many Grand Slam in a single season. Should he win in the final, he will pass both Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer to become the highest Grand Slam champion on record.
The last time a male player won all four Grand Slam in a calendar year was by Don Budge in 1938. Djokovic is now set to join him on the list as the second to make the feat.
