Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes Men's Football All-time Biggest Goalscorer
Cristiano Ronaldo has got his name written in the football history as the all-time biggest goalscorer in men's international foitball after leading Portugal to beat the Republic of Ireland in the World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday.
The newly-signed Manchester United forward scored his 110th and 111th goal to seal a 2-1 for his national team and upset the previous record set for all-time goalscoring feat by former Iranian player, Ali Daei.
Portugal snatched the victory from their opponents when Ronaldo scored twice with a header within two minutes dead late into the game. Meanwhile, Ireland was set to win the game having led by 1-0 after Egan found the back of the net on the brink of halftime.
"I'm so happy, not only because I beat the record, but for the special moment that we had. Two goals at the end of the game. I have to appreciate what the team did," he said speaking to RTE. "We believed until the end. I'm so glad. "
Ronald is also the all-time biggest goalscorer in the Champions League history, and has also equalled Sergio Ramos's record of all-time most cap for a national team after making his 180th cap for Portugal. However, the victory extended Portuga's lead to 10 points in Group A followed by Serbia with 7 points.
