Andy Murray Reaches First Tour Quarter-finals Since 2019
Andy Murray has for the first time since 2019 reached his first ATP Tour quarter-finals which he did in straight sets 6-3 6-3 win against Canadian opponent Vasey Pospisil at the Moselle Open.
The former world number seemingly had the control of the game over Pospisil, earning his first break in the seventh game in the opening and went on to complete four breaks and sealed the match point when the Canadian hit a return into the net.
"I've not played this many tournaments inna while," said Murray. "I'm gaining confidence and seeing the points develop. The results are coming and my tennis is getting better."
He had relatively tough first match with Frech player Uho Himbert. He had to rally from a set down to win a three sets 4-6 6-3 6-2. He will now face either Hebert Hurkacz or Luca Pouille in the next match.
The Scott is also one-time champion of the tournament when he last reached the final in 2007. However, his career and STP ranking has been devastated since he had hip resurfacing surgery.
