Tokyo 2020: Alexander Zverev Wins Gold Medal
Alexander Zverev is the new Olympic champion in tennis Men's Single after winning the gold medal in straight sets against Russian opponent Karen Khachanov.
It was an historic moment for German who became the first male tennis player from his country ever to win the top prize at the Games. He took down the Russian in two sets 6-3 6-1 to grab the medal.
En route to the final, Zverev defeated world number one Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals - the victory canceled out the Serb's bid to be the first male player ever to win Golden Slam having won four Grand Slam this season.
The 2018 ATP World Tour Finals winner described clinching the prize as "incredible" stating that the feeling his different because you're not only playing for yourself, you're playing for your country" at the Olympics.
He now joined the likes of Steffi Graf, who is the first player and the only female German ever to win Olympic gold medal to complete bid for a Golden Slam in 1988.
