Barcelona Confirm Readiness To End Lionel Messi's Stay At Club

It is gradually becoming the end of an era for lionel Messi at Barcelona as the club confirmed the possibilities of him being sold given some circumstances.

Messi and the club recently agreed on a new contract on reduced wages which potentially will renew his contract that had elapsed on July 1. However, Barca have found finances had since the coronavirus pandemic that forced football league across Europe to suspend the 2020 season for over three months.

Stating the reasons for the club's decision, it was revealed in a statement released that the club has some "financial and structural obstacles" and their desire to keep him longer as agreed might "ultimately not be fulfilled."

"FC Barcelona wholeheartedly expresses gratitude to the player for his contribution to the aggrandisement of the club," said Barcelona. "And wishes him all the very best for the future in his personal and professional life."

It is apparent that the Argentine who is the club all-time highest goal scorer (672) is set to sort for a new future for the first in his football career at the club that he started with from the academy.

Talking about his wages, Messi is the highest paid footballer, having wages of €515,000-per-week (€71m annually). He is followed by his Juventus rival Cristiano Ronaldo and PSG forward Neymar Jr.
