Rafael Nadal Pulls Out Of Wimbledon, Tokyo Olympics
Rafael Nadal will not be participating in the Tokyo Olympics neither will he be playing at this season's Championship at Wimbledon. He announced his withdrawal from the competitions on Thursday over the need for him to listen to his body.
The 2008 Olympic gold medalist confirmed his withdrawal via a tweeted update that reads, "I have decided not to participate at this year's championship at Wimbledon and the Olympic Games in Tokyo. It's never an easy decision but after listening to my body and discuss it with my team I understand that it is the right decision."
Nadal missed out on reaching the Paris Open final after losing to Novak Djokovic in the semi-final and that could have earned him his 21st Grand Slam title which could have made him the all-time biggest winner.
The Tokyo Olympics will be held on July 24 - the Games was postponed last year during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. Meanwhile, Wimbledon will kick off in days on June 28.
