Paris Open: Rafael Nadal Set Up Final Against Novak Djokovic
It is yet again going to be another Rafael Nadal match against rival Serbia player Novak Djokovic, but this time, their meeting will be deciding who makes it to the final of Roland Garros which the Spaniard is a 13-time champion of.
Nadal won a thrilling fourth setter 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-0 against Argentine player Diego Schwartzman and edged closer to retaining his status as the defending champion of the competition. The victory extended Nadal's dominance in match wins to 105 out of 107 in Philippe Chartier.
Though Schwartzman lost the match, he managed to end Nadal's 36 consecutive set wins at the tournament by snapping the streak in the second set which he shrugged off aggression from the world number two to win. Nonetheless, Nadal progressed to win the two remaining sets.
"The numbers are just amazing," said Nadal. "But I can't think about that now, honestly. Let's talk about that when I finish my career."
He will face in the semi-final Djokovic who battled through four-setter 6-3 6-2 6-7 (5) 7-5 to set up another head-to-head meeting with the title defender after he lost to him at the Italian Open last month.
