Michael B. Jordan Hints At Reprising Role In Black Panther Sequel
Black Panther is set for a sequel which will not be having a recast of late lead actor Boseman Chadwick's role as Marvel Studios already confirmed that it has decided to keep the actor's legacy. The demise of Chad happened last year following a long battle with bowel cancer. However, Michael B. Jordan portrayed as Erik Killmonger had already died in the film and there was no indication of his survival after being thrown off the cliff following a bout for supremacy with Boseman portrayed as King T'Challa.
Contrary to that perception from the first installment, Michael teased about what could suggest his survival instead of tragedy as he talked about the possibilities of his return in the upcoming sequel speaking to Jess Cage on SiriusXM Show.
Michael clarified that he is really uncertain regarding his stance on what the storyline could be, yet he said, "I'm gonna have to go with solid 2. I didn't want to go zero! Never say Never. I can't predict the future."
He added, "I know [Ryan Cooglar] and Marvel are going to do the absolute best job at developing the story in a way that makes everybody happy and satisfied and honors Chad and moves forward with grace."
Erik Killmonger was portrayed as the villain that believed he is the rightful one to the throne and that King T'Challa had swindled him to the throne during his time in exile outside of the Kingdom of Wakanda. In his bid for a takeover which he successfully did in his first bout with T'Challa, who survived fallen off the cliff, his fall was tragedic in the second bout after T'Challa resurfaced. Well, that could be Marvel leaving a question on answered.
Black Panther debuted at the box office smashing most previous records and was ranked the all-time most grossing superhero film directed by an African-American director. It closed at the box office crossing the billion-dollar benchmark with a global gross of over $1.5b.
