Monaco GP: Lewis Hamilton Calls Out Mercedes As Max Verstappen Wins Race
Monaco Grand Prix pole sitter, Charles Leclerc, had a letting down in the final after suffering gearbox problem that forced him out of the race only for Red Bull's Max Verstappen to win the race for his second of the season.
Verstappen had the control of the race while Leclerc's gearbox problem could not be repaired by Ferrari when he pitted costing him the chance to compete favourable on his home circuit. Likewise, Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas had a disappointing race over tyres issues.
Ferrari should have detected Leclerc's gearbox problem earlier but validated the car could yet do the final despite having reported the situation to the team after the qualifying session. Similarly, Hamilton who finished seventh, did complained about how his car tyres impeded him from competing favourably at the qualifying.
Speaking to Mercedes team during the race, Hamilton expressed his dismay at the crew in radio conversation. He said, "I don't understand you guys. I saved the tyres to run longer and you stop me before everyone."
In place of Leclerc on the podium was his teammate Carlos Sainz, who finished second quickest behind the Dutch driver who clinched victory in 1:38:56.820s - it was the Spaniard best performance with Ferrari that he joined this season replacing Sebastian Vettel.
