Barcelona In Talks With Erling Haaland's Father, Agent On Transfer
Barcelona has entered into talks with representatives of Erling Haaland on his transfer to Nou Camp as the race for the player's signature puts his future beyond this summer at Borussia Dortmund in doubt.
Manchester City was understood to also have shortlisted Haaland in their wish-list as Pep Guardiola searches for the suitable player to replace Sergio Aguero in the squad. Meanwhile, the Norwegian striker is reportedly shortlisted alongside Tottenham forward Harry Kane.
Amongst individuals at the round table for the player's transfer with the president of Barcelona Joan Laporta is the player's father and agents Mino Raiola and Alf Inge. It is understood that the club's president and some other members picked up the players father and his agents at the airport
Mind you, Barcelona had a turbulent summer last year which culminated in the transfer of some players and the dismissal of former head coach Quiqen Setien and former director of sport Eric Abidal. The frustration was caused by the club's humiliating exit from the Champions League by Bayern Munich and losing league title bid to Real Madrid.
Haaland's contract runs until 2024 and has a release clause of £66m which Barcelona could find as a hefty fee to afford because of the financial hardship inflicted on the club by the coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, Haaland is one of the most sought-after players in Europe being the second-highest goal scorer in the Bundesliga after Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski.
