Wizkid, Burna Boy Win Grammy Awards

Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Burna Boy, has clinched his first Grammy just a year after losing his debut appearance as a nominee to Togolese singer Angelique Kidjo.

This could only be described as the biggest career attainment for the 29-year-old who won the prize for his newly-released album Twice As Tall in the Global Music Album category.

Burna Boy was nominated alongside Brooklyn-based afrobeat band Antibalas, British-Indian composer, Anoushka, and Brazilian-American singer, Bebel Gilberto.

Wizkid joined the list of winners for his collaboration with Beyonce, Brown Skin Girl which was nominated in the best music video category. However, he had previously had a collaboration that received a grammy, One Dance featuring Drake.

Both artists will be the first Nigerian musicians ever to receive a grammy award after late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo and Juju singer King Sunny Ade couldn't win the conveted award after being nominated.
