Manchester United Appoint New Football Director, Technical Director

Manchester United have appointed John Murtouch as the club's new football director after years of search for a suitable appointee to take up the role.

Murtouch beat contenders like Sevilla's Monchi and Lille sporting Luis Campos for the role and he is saddled with the responsibility of all "football functions and recruitment" with the team's manager Ole Gunnar Solkjaer.

Also joining in on the restricting going on in the club is Darren Fletcher who was promoted to the role of a technical director with the expectations of helping the team with "technical" acumen to improve on their performance. United presently are trailing Manchester City in league table leadership in the race for the Premier League title.

"These are hugely important appointments that reinforce the progress we have been making as a club in recent years in our relentless pursuit of success," said United Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward.

As United seeks to improve the team's performance and make Solksjaer's job easier, they have offered Matt Judge as the new director of football negotiation and will be working directly with Murtouch.

Ed continued, "I am delighted that John and Darren have accepted these roles and I look forward to the contribution they will make, together with Ole and the rest of the stay, as we build toward future success."
