Champions League: Man. City Breeze Through To Quarterfinal
Manchester City maintained a clean sheet on aggregate against Borussia Monchengladbach which they defeated 2-0 (Aggr. 4-0) to secure quarterfinal qualification for the fourth time in a row.
Citizens came into the game having the 2-0 win right the first leg as an advantage and did not waste time deciding the fate of the second leg as Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan scored early into the game to guarantee their victory.
Kevin lashed a 20-yard shot home for the side's lead in the 12th minutes which was followed four minutes later by Gubdodan slotting Phil Foden's pass through in between the legs of goalkeeper Yann Sommer.
Pep Guardiola's men maintained their strong performance having lost one out of 32 games played in all competitions. The team becomes the second after AC Milan to maintain a clean sheet in seven games in a row in Champions League history.
