Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury Agree On Two-Fight Contract Of £200M
Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury's fight is definitely happening and there is no going back on this after all necessary agreement has been reached between the two parties.
AJ promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed on Monday that Tyson's representatives have agreed on a 50/50 split for a two-fight contract worth £200m. The unification fight will produce an undisputed champion holding five heavyweight belts - WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF, and IBO.
Such an undisputed champion in the UNK was last held by Lennox Lewis. However, no date nor venue has been confirmed for the mage fight which will be Britain's biggest ever.
"All sides have now put pen to paper on what will be the biggest fight in boxing," said Eddie. "We will now collectively look at the best site deal. We have had a lot of offers and now we will go over the details and see what works the best for this historic fight."
Since the deal comes with an option for a rematch, Eddie revealed there is a need to have two venues marked for the fight and that will be without the inclusion of the United Kingdom due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, countries in the Middle-East, East Europe, Far East East, and North America are amongst potential venues for fights.
"I actually feel we've done the hard part," Eddie continued. "speaking for myself, Anthony, and his team at 258 management, I know how hard we've worked hard these last couple of months and I just feel that this fight is so big it's not a difficult sell."
Eddie also confirmed that there are possibilities that the venue and date for the fight will be announced by next month. He revealed they have already approached eight or nine sites concerning this.
