Premier League: Timo Werner Scores First Goal After 14-Game Goalless Run As Chelsea Beat Newcastle

Timo Werner had the best night during Chelsea 2-0 win against Newcastle United and did end his scoring drought by contributing to the side taking the lead and doubling the scoreline as Blues move up to fourth in the table.

For 14 games, the former RB Leipzig forward hasn't scored a goal and was hungry at getting one in during that game such that he had four shots at the target in the first half alone.

Despite missing out on his first attempt that goal tapping wide Mason Mount's cross from close range, the German facilitated the opener for Chelsea when his cross was parried to Oliver Giroud's reach and the Frenchman lashed home the ball for Blues' lead.

The German had his chance to score when he lashed home a headed back flick following a corner to double the lead for Chelsea and his first goal after 1,000th minutes goalless appearances in Premier League games. He had another chance minutes later but hit the ball just inches across the crossbar.

Chelsea remained unbeaten in six games in a row in all competition under their new manager Thomas Tuchel who replaced former manager Frank Lampard.
