Premier League: Man. City Maintain League Lead As Liverpool Continue To Struggle

It is apparent that Manchester City are strong contenders for the season title race as they are on the loose after taking a comfortable victory against Burnely with Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling leading the team to  claim the maximum points

Citizens retained league leadership with three-point clear nearest opponents after beating Burnley 2-0 extending their winning streak to 13 consecutive league games. Meanwhile, title defenders, Liverpool, continued to suffer a huge setback after losing 1-0 to Brighton.

Gabriel opened the lead by nodding into the net a rebound shot from Bernado Silva parried into his path by Nick Pope and Sterling doubled the lead by tucking home Ilkay Gundogan's cross into the box. Riyad Mahrez scored the third goal but was ruled out for being in an offside position.

"The first 15 minutes of the second half was our best football. Unfortunately, we could not score a third or fourth goal," said Guardiola. "In the last 15 minutes, we passed the ball without the intent to attack, just to control."

The winning run reached by Citizens is the longest recorded for a Premier League side since Arsenal's five-month run (March-August) in 2002 and they have also won all three league games against Burnley.
