Man. United: Solksjaer Rekindles Determination For Title After Draw With West Brom

Manchester United title race suffered a setback after earning a draw against West Bromwich with a thrilling finish by Bruno Fernandes dead into halftime. Meanwhile, the team manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer remains committed to the title race rather than settle for second.

Victor Lindelof's sloppy defense handed Baggies' loanee Mbaye Diagne the head advantage for a header finish of Conor Gallagher's cross in just 83 seconds into the game.

Fernandes rescued United from an impending defeat by volleying home Luke Shaw's cross to level the scoring on the brink of halftime. The goal was the Portuguese's 14th league goal of the season. In the second half, Diagne yet again had a glaring chance but David de Gea denied him getting a second.

Dropping points against West Brom might have just cost them the title race however, Solksjaer believes it is too early for his team to give up and to allow Manchester City to run away with the title.

"No one will give it away this early. This season is so unpredictable, life is so unpredictable," said the Norwegian manager. "Anything can happen and of course we're not going to settle for a second."

United extended their unbeaten league game run this season to 19 in a row and as they contend for the title they have been unable to win since 2012-13 - Sir Alex Ferguson was the last manager to lead the club to lift the Premier League trophy.

Solksjaer later admitting the outcome of the game was "disappointing" because the club was in a "desperate need" of maximum points to enable them to move up the table and close the gap with City.
