Europa League: "Be Ruthless" Mikel Arteta Tells Arsenal After Draw Against Benfica
Arsenal ripped a point off Benfica in a comeback to force a 1-1 draw that was given them by Busayo Saka minutes after the Portuguese moved up in the lead. The Premier League side's manager Mikel Arteta wanted his team to be "more ruthless" against their opponents and earn big wins.
Arteta's men maintain top spirits after Alfonso Alonso converted the spot-kick drawn by Emilie Smith for a handball offense and Bukayo was well-positioned for a finish of Cedric Soares' corner for the equalizer three minutes later.
The scoreline should have been much bigger for Arsenal but failed to convert a couple of chances in the first half. Nonetheless, they stand the before in the next match having gained an away goal at Benfica's.
"We are very dominant and created some big chances. We have to be more ruthless," said Arteta. "It was disappointing the way we conceded the goal."
