Premier League: Chelsea Beat Burnley To Keep Clean Sheet Under Thomas Tuchel
Chelsea welcomed their new head coach Thomas Tuchel with his first league game win a 2-0 victory against Burnley, as the club bounced back to winning ways after their goalless draw against Wolverhampton under the newly-appointed manager on Wednesday.
The two goals came in late into both halves with Cesar Azpilicueta giving the side the opener before Alonso sealed the game with a winner with six minutes remaining in the second half. The victory would be Blues' fourth against Burnley in all competitions.
Azpilicueta had first headed wide Kovacic's cross before lashing home a cut-back from Callum Hudson-Odoi to give Chelsea the lead with five minutes remaining to play before the halftime break. Alonzo doubled the lead hammering home Christian Pulisic's cross late in the second half.
Timo Werner had a scoring chance from close range but poorly struck the ball and likewise Mason Mount who struck Hudson-Odoi's cross wide. Hudson-Odoi missed getting a goal when his deflected shot on Erik Pieters hit the bar.
Tuchel became the first Chelse manager to keep a clean sheet in two straight league games on debut after Rafael Benitez in 2012.
