Mauricio Pochettino Becomes Paris Saint-Germain's New Manager

Mauricio Pochettino has returned to football management after securing the appointment as the new Paris Saint-Germain head coach to replace ousted manager Thomas Tuchel.

The Argentine has been out of a job since losing his role as Tottenham manager in November 2019 and was replaced with Jose Mourinho. His dismissal was following the club's poor performance at the early start of the 2019/2020 season - he had led the team to their first Champions League final appearance the season before he was fired.

Thomas was fired late in December last year despite having until the summer of 2022 left in his contract with the club. The German left the club in the third position in the Ligue 1 table but had led the team to reach the Last 16 of this season's Champions League.

"I returned to the club today with a lot of ambition and humility, and eager to work with some of the world's talented player," said the former Spurs manager.

The 48-year-old promised to give his best and improve on the club to give its a more "combative and attacking playing identity" that its fans have always expected in all competition.
