Formula 1 Season Opening Race Canceled
Formula 1 will witness a change in its season-opening race as Australian Grand Prix has been canceled over the coronavirus pandemic. The race which was meant to be held in Albert's Park, Melbourne will not be hosting the event for the second time in a row.
It is understood that the opening race will be held in Bahrain instead and Formula q also confirmed the change in venue in a statement released with regards to Aussie GP cancelation.
"in 2020 we proved that we could return to racing safely and delivered what many thought was impossible," said f1 in a statement. "We have set out our 2021 calendar and look forward to the return of F1 in March this year."
Australian GP was meant to host its 23rd F1 race in March and that was also meant to be the country's first major event since the coronavirus pandemic. However, F1 has maintained that stick Covid-19 guidelines will be followed to guarantee the safety of their teams and fans at all events.
