Andy Murray Pulls Out of Australian Open
Apparently, Andy Murray will not be participating in the Australian Open as he could not get an agreement with the organizer on quarantine following his testing positive for coronavirus.
"We've been in constant dialogue with Tennis Australia to try and find a solution which would allow some form of workable quarantine, but we couldn't make it work," Murray lamented.
The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted seriously on the sport and the organizer had said earlier in a statement the Briton will be missing the OA Charter flight for players coming to the tournament over contrasting the killer bug.
Murray, who said he is "gutted" over not having to play at the tournament, had just recovered from hip resurfacing surface last season after a long spell outside of the court and won his first title in two seasons at the European Open.
"I want to thank everyone there for their effort," Murray added. "I'm devasted not to be playing out in Australia. It's a country and tournament that I love."
The former world number one will miss the competition alongside Swiss ace Roger Federer whose slow recovery from injury forced him to pull out of the season-opening tournament.
