Abdoulaye Doucoure's Injury-Time Goal Saved Everton From FA Cup Exit
Everton seized an injury-time goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure to secure a 2-1 victory against Rotterdam for qualification to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Rotherham came from behind to force an equalizer from Matthew Olosunde's low shot after the break, erasing the lead gained by Everton from Cenk Tosun's early goal. Tosun denied giving the side the winning goal by VAR before Doucore lashed home the second for Everton in the injury time
Meanwhile, the EFL side Championship proved to be resilient against Everton and nearly caused a scare with several attempts but Robin Olsen denied them from getting a goal before they finally found the back of the net for the side.
The Premier League side took a risk by not playing top goalscorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin but started newly-signed James Rodriguez. The side's goalkeeper Olsen denied the opponents' Matt Cook and Daniel Barlaser from getting an equalizer before Olosunde beat him to the goal.
Rotherham have now lost each of their six FA Cup games against a top-flight team during a match that witnessed Everton's Tosun scoring his first goal since 2019.
