Premier League: Arsenal's Winless Run Continues After Draw With Southampton
Arsenal shrugged off what could have been a humble home defeat to Southampton by forcing a 1-1 draw with an equalizer from Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Former Gunners' player Theo Walcott gave Saints the lead after a defensive flop allowed Che Adams to get a loose pass to the striker to lob the ball over Bernd Leno for the opening goal.
Aubameyang later saved the hosts from defeat by leveling the scoring after the break, but Arsenal soon went one-man down after Gabriel Magalhaes was red-carded for a rough tackle on Walcott. The deficit nearly resulted in the Saints getting a winning goal from Nathan Redman whose shot clipped the crossbar.
Despite having to play 10-man for the remainder of the match, Mikel Arteta's men were not devoid of scoring chance either as Rob Holding almost got the winner for the side with a header that clipped the pole.
Arsenal have now extended their winless run to six consecutive league games leaving the team in the 15th position while Saints overtook Leicester City to move up to the third position in the table.
