Pirates of the Caribbean Actor Supports Return of Johnny Depp In Sixth Installment
The upcoming sixth installment of Johnny Depp-led film Pirates of the Caribbean will not be starring him in his famous role as Captain Sparrow and his onscreen friend in the film Kevin McNally who was portrayed as Joshamee Gibbs has called for his return even if it is as a cameo.
Disney's intention is to improve on the narrative of the film by introducing Margot Robbie in the lead role which would mean Depp will be ruled out of the franchise. This plan did not sit right well with McNally and argued in a podcast hosting another Pirates co-star Gregg Elli, that leaving Depp of the film which his portrayal as Sparrow has built a "modern legend" seemed to him as not right of the studio.
"Yes is the simple answer to that. My feelings about this are very complex because in a sense there was a slight feeling that the franchise itself had played out a little bit so a reboot is a reasonable idea," He explained further. "I don't think reboot, if you concentrate on younger characters, should still exclude Jack Sparrow."
Johnny Depp's role as Captain Sparrow in the famous franchise lasted through five installments and has become the central figure of the film series. But, that role has now suffered a serious setback after the role was yanked away from him over losing a case over physical abusive of his wife Amber Heard filed against him at a UK Court by one of the country's media outlets, The Sun.
