Little Mix Star Quits Band
Little Mix is not going to be the same again after the exit of one of its band members Jesy Nelson who confirmed she will be quitting the band over the impact her music career has had on her mental health.
Jesy started off with the band that was launched to fame after winning the X-Factor in 2009 but the limelight has left her devastated and has decided as a result to walk away.
It has been a struggle for the singer who revealed her struggles with internets trolls attacking her with vile body-shaming comments that almost induced her to commit suicide. Following that revelation was the announcement of her split from her boyfriend Chris Hughes in April
Announcing her decision to quit the band, the 29-year-old confessed in a statement released on Instagram that the decision was such she made with a "heavy heart," nevertheless she could only be thankful to her fans and bandmates for the "support" she has received from them over the years.
"I can't thank you all enough from the bottom of my heart for making me feel like the luckiest girl in the world," she wrote. "You have always been from the bottom of my heart for making me feel like the luckiest girl in the world."
Jesy had first teased about her plans to leave the band when she announced she will be taking an "extended break" from the group in November. Eventually, the break turned out to be quitting the band which obviously is important to her.
Her bandmates, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edward, and Jade Thirlwall, also responded to the departure of the singer via a tweet, expressing how great she will be missed after spending 9 years together and bid her farewell since the decision was for her best interest.
"We love her very much and agree that it is so important that she does what is right for her mental health and well-being," wrote Little Mix.
