LA Lakers Take A Loss In Start To New NBA Season
Los Angeles Lakers are having a humble start to the new season after being passed by Los Angeles Clippers in a 109-116 led by Kahki Leonard and Paul Goerge.
The NBA defending champions lost their opening game to Phoenix Suns over the weekend in a preseason game and ended their game against Clippers with their forward LeBron James picking up an ankle injury. Nonetheless, the star player finished the game posting up 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
"I don't think it's going to stop me from playing on Friday," said James with optimism that he would be back in action this weekend.
Clippers looked in top spirit from the start of the game taking the lead and refuting a comeback from Lakers in the third quarter to finish the game with Paul leading the standouts with 33 points, six rebounds, and three assists followed by Leonard with 23 points, two rebounds, and three assists.
Two Lakers finished the game with a double-double - Montrezl Harrell with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists, and Dennis Schroder with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. Kyle Kuzma posted up 15 points, four rebounds, and one assist.
Lakers star first paid tribute to the franchise's late star Kobe Bryant wear rings bearing a mamba snake behind each player's number. Anthony Davies and James stood side-by-side as they observed the one silence minute in homage to the deceased who died in a plane crash in January.
