Former Liverpool Manager Passed Away, Aged 73
Former France national head coach and ex-Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier has passed away. He was aged 73.
Gerard's football management career lastest for 38 years and he enjoyed the privilege of being the boss of some European top-flight clubs amongst which were Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain.
The deceased had a trophy-ladened career during his lifetime winning the Ligue 1 title twice with Lyon and the EUFA Cup (present-day Europa League trophy) with Liverpool where he won a treble in 2000-01.
"We are mourning the passing of our treble-winning manager, Gerard Houllier," wrote Liverpool in a tweet. "The thoughts of everyone at Liverpool Football Club are with Gerard's family and many friends. Rest in Peace, Gerard Houllier 1947 - 2020."
After a successful two-year spell at Lyon, the deceased returned to the Premier League to join Aston Villa, where he ended his career having completed a season-long spell.
