Ed Sheeran's Drops New Single 'Afterglow'

 


Ed Sheeran's new single 'Afterglow' comes as a gift to his fans whilst he takes a break from music looking after his daughter, and it is set for the top spot on the festive chart. 

Sheeran uploaded the new song on Instagram on Monday explaining in the caption that the new tune is not part of his fifth studio album and that he already the song long before he welcomed his first child with his wife Cherry Seaborn in September. 

"Afterglow is a song I wrote last year that I wanted to release for you. It's not the first single from the next album," he wrote. "It's just a song I love and hope you love too Enjoy. Have a safe and happy festive break and New Year. Back to dad land for me now, ciao x."


Last year, the father-of-one was named the UK number one artist of the decade by the Official chart Company for having stayed atop the chart between 2010 and 2009. 

The divide singer who once made the #1 spot on the festive chart in 2017 with Perfect, is faced with strong contests from top favorites like Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' and Ladbaby's 'Don't Stop Me Eatin' in the race for his second #1 festive song.
